Quietfloor This is an acoustic floor system designed to improve both the impact and airborne noise transfer through floors. The laminated composition provides maximum performance for minimum thickness and combines excellent sound insulation with all the qualities of a good carpet underlay. It is quick and easy to install and is easily cut and shaped. Overall thickness is just 12mm so it minimises the increase in floor level. |

This product comprises an 8mm layer of chipfoam bonded between a top layer of 5Kg soundproofing mat and a base layer of 3Kg soundproofing mat. The base layer of barrier mat seals and damps the sound coming through the floor, the isolated top layer of barrier mat blocks the sound both ways and the chipfoam core dramatically reduces impact noise transfer.

When laid over timber floors airborne insulation in the order of 43dB DnTw+Ctr can be expected. When laid over timber floors impact insulation in the order of 39dB LnTw can be expected. (A carpet will reduce this even further). When bonded over concrete floors impact improvements in the order of Delta LW 42dB can be expected. When laid underneath a 22mm T&G chipboard deck, with 100mm acoustic mineral wool in the cavity space, impact insulation in the order of 60dB LnTw (or less) can be expected. |
Preparation:- The floor to be treated should be examined and any loose floorboards should be firmly secured. It is also extremely beneficial to seal the existing floor airtight using either mastic (if the gaps are narrow) or alternatively overlaying the floor with 2 layers of T60 Super Soundproofing Membrane for greater performance.
Installation:- Quiet-Floor is simply loose laid on the floor. It is essential that the thinner barrier layer is placed to the floor. It is also essential that the sheets are laid in a staggered, brick type pattern, and that they are butted tightly up togeather and up to the perimeters of the room. Our aluminium duct tape can be used over the joins to make them airtight. |

When using carpet grippers a strip of the black top layer and foam, the same width as the gripper, should be removed with a sharp knife. The gripper should be fitted and nailed or screwed through into the floor. Some installers add a strip of 5mm deep wooden batten to raise the level of the gripper (as shown). |
