Domestic Wall Soundproofing Products
Even in new build houses and flats, that are built using the correct materials and methods, loud noise produced by music and shouting etc will always be heard and can be particularly worse in the evening when normal daytime background noises have stopped and the ambient background noise is therefor much less. Although the intensity of loud noise cannot be eliminated completely it can be reduced to a more acceptable level by using our products and systems below.

We offer two solutions for domestic wall soundproofing:-
The first is our M20 panels glued to a prepared wall with 2 additional layers of 12.5mm plasterboard glued on top. This is a solely adhesive based system, takes up minimum space (45mm overall), meets building regulations and offers fair performance.

The second is to build an 'isolated' studwall, incorporating resilient bars, acoustic mineral wool (or even better 2FT45 quilt) and soundproofing mats (or acoustic membrane), in front of the existing wall. The later option should be considered when the noise problem is very bad especially with music volumes and bass. This system is slightly more involved and does take up more space but will give much better performance, especially at lower frequencies. The studwall should ideally be spaced approx 5-10mm away from the existing wall and isolated around the peimeter with our isolation strips. The further away the studwall is built the better the performance will be especially at low frequencies. If you are short of space you can tie the battens direct to the wall via our 5mm thick isolation strips but you really should use battens at least 50mm deep.

The very best performance will come from bonding the 2FT45 quilt to the existing wall first before using battens/framework. Call us to discuss this application for maximum performance.

We supply M20 wall insulation which is designed to reduce airborne noise through walls with the minimum loss of space. M20 is particularly effective when applied to single skin walls such as breeze, brick or studwork partitioning. The insulation can be cut with a sharp stanley knife or jig-saw. It is simply bonded onto the wall with adhesive and two additional layers of 12.5mm plasterboard are bonded on top.

We supply Resilient Bars which are a thin flexible metal channel designed to substantially improve the sound insulation of plasterboard studwalls. The channel effectively isolates the plasterboard from the studwork, eliminating 'direct contact' to dissipate sound which would normally be transferred through the frame. This system is easy to install and produces dramatic results.

Resilient Bars

We supply soundproofing mats which dramatically reduce the airborne noise transmission of standard lightweight structures. Only 2mm thick, it is more efficient than a sheet of lead at blocking sound. It is easy to cut, extremely dense and highly damped. It's best used sandwiched inbetween two sheets of plasterboard.

Soundproofing Mats

We supply a very high performance 2FT45 Quilt for use within wall cavity spaces, or against walls first, which gives far superior performance over any other cavity infill material.

We supply a high performance 1.2mm thick Acoustic Membrane which, when installed across the entire face of stud framing before other materials are to be fited. Performs better than the soundproofing mats. We also do an aluminium tape for sealing the overlapped seams.

We supply Fire-Safe Acoustic Mineral Wool which can be inserted in cavity spaces of plasterboard/studwork structures to help increase the airborne noise reduction.
